The Apple iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6s
Every year Apple comes out with a newer, better version of the iPhone and consumers scramble to be the first in line to receive the newest version. Apple is constantly striving to one-up themselves with new versions of the iPhone, so there will always be newer and better features offered.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s are no exceptions. At first glance, it seems like there are not many differences between the models, though these impressions are typically based solely on looks. While some people claim that the differences are so minor that they would never notice, or have no desire to upgrade from the iPhone they just purchased, true techies and Apple fans know never to underestimate the Apple iPhone.
Are There Really Any Differences?
Many people will ask "what ARE the differences between the iPhone 6 and 6s?". The answer to that question is yes, there are some core differences between them. The newest versions of the beloved iPhone are pretty much the same looks-wise, under the hood, not much has changed either, but there are notable changes from the 6 to the 6s.
Upgraded Metal Frame
The metal frame has been upgraded for the 6s to prevent bending in your pocket, which was an issue with previous versions of the iPhone. A new color was also added and rose pink is now available in the color line up which previously only included gold, silver and space grey.
3D Touch Screen
The next notable difference between the iPhone 6 and 6s is that while the screen size of 4.7 inches, and resolution are the same for both versions, the iPhone 6s includes a 3D touch display like the one that comes with the Apple watch. The 3D touch can gauge the force with which the user touches the screen and offers more accurate haptic feedback.
The 3D touch also brings with it some new features such as the Peek and Pop, which pops up more options when users hold the app down, and offers quick access to certain applications on the home screen. Other than these minor differences, the display did not get any major upgrades with the new iPhone 6s.
One feature of the display that both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s share is the touch ID fingerprint, which allows users to use their fingerprint to unlock their phone. This is a really cool feature that adds a level of safety also. If your phone gets lost or stolen, it will not be able to be unlocked without your fingerprint. This feature is something many were glad to see stuck around for the new version, and something that will hopefully carry on to future versions also.
Upgraded Camera to 12 MP
The camera on the iPhone 6s has also received an upgrade going from 8 MP to 12 MP. The front facing camera also received a bump up from 1.2 MP to 5 MP. This may not sound like a lot, but if the two are compared side by side there will be a noticeable difference. The new cameras offer Live Photo technology as well. This feature allows users to take one second of video before and after taking the photo resulting in pictures "coming alive", much like an animated GIF image.
Upgrade To 4K Video Recording
Another camera upgrade is video recording in 4K, meaning sharper and brighter pixels which results in more color in recordings. The camera upgrades are definitely the most noticeable differences between the iPhone 6 and 6s.
Upgraded Processor A9 Chip
Apple announced that the iPhone 6s comes with a faster processor speed, but failed to release any real numbers to support these claims. The company instead advertised a 70% boost on processor speed, and a 90% boost on GPU. These boost percentages are based on the fact that in the iPhone 6s the latest Apple A9 chipset was used instead of the A8.
The A9 chipset is supposedly one of the best Apple has ever made. There is also still not a 32 GB option in the 6s. The same 16, 64 and 128 GB line up is offered. While the battery for the new iPhone 6s is actually smaller than that of the iPhone 6, it is suggested that with more optimizations made to the new iPhone, the battery will actually last longer.
Faster With Extra Features
This time around Apple chose to focus on greatly improving just a few features instead of trying to come up with an entirely new concept for the iPhone 6s. It seems to have worked in their favor this time, the much improved camera and new features that come along with it are amazing and the Live Photos technology is brilliant.
The 3D touch display is also a great improvement and the major boosts to the GPU and processor will ensure a faster running phone. Apple hit the nail on the head with the new iPhone 6s, now we wait to see what they come up with for the next version.
All-in-all we believe the iPhone 6s is a worthy upgrade and it's time to compare the best iPhone 6s deals and get your new iPhone right now!
